Vision
To achieve optimal nutrition of vulnerable segments of population such as women of reproductive age, children, adolescent girls and elderly by 2020.

Mission
To enable food and nutrition security conducive to good health, growth & development and increase productivity through dedicated research, so as to achieve the national nutrition goals set by the government of India in the national nutrition policy.

Nutrition Education and training programmes are carried out by the Extension and Training division of the Institute. The following are the training programmes that are offered at the Institute.

1. PG Certificate Course in Nutrition
2. Annual Training Course on Endocrinological Techniques and their Application
3. Annual Training Course on Assessment of Nutritional Anaemias
4. Annual Laboratory Animal Technician's & Supervisor's Training Course - Information :

A. Annual Laboratory Animal Technician's Course - Application
B. Annual Laboratory Animal Supervisor's Course - Application
C. Supervisor's Notification 2009
5. Other Adhoc programmes on request from various national and international organizations
